Programme in Details

The User Workshop will take place on November 3rd and 4th.

On November 3rd, the Plenary Day of the workshop, ELI ALPS will present:

  1. the status of the Research Infrastructure
  2. two on-going “Flagship” user projects on:
Nonlinear XUV processes and their dynamics in gas phase
Time- and Spin-Resolved Momentum Microscopy in surface science
  3. a planned user project on ultrafast dynamics in liquid phase.

These presentations aim at highlighting the unique capabilities offered by the radiation sources and end-stations of ELI ALPS for gas phase, liquid phase and solid state studies. In particular, they will address the advanced opportunities offered the combination of high repetition rate lasers and attosecond XUV beamlines with the Reaction Microscope, the Liquid Jet endstations and the one-of-its-kind Spin Filter equipped NanoEsca endstations.

The program of November 4th consists of:

  • Reports on finalized user projects
  • Status of on-going user projects
  • User projects under preparation

The research topics to be addressed by the invited users of ELI ALPS include:

  • Photoionization delays
  • Efficiency in high-order harmonic generation at the SYLOS Long GHHG beamline
  • Transient absorption and pump-probe spectrometers with <10 fs resolution for biomolecular dynamics
  • Multidimensional spectroscopy of biomolecules
  • THz radiation- matter interactions
  • Studies of non-linear processes in the XUV using HHG sources
  • HHG from a quantum optics perspective
  • Characterization of high harmonics generated in solids
  • Development of step scan FTVIS experimental methodology
  • Dynamics of photoresists
  • Positron generation
  • Neutron generation towards transmutation of nuclear waste
  • Surface harmonics with few cycle pulses
  • Coherent wake emission
